Watch Chewbacca Judge Ron Howard's Terrible Wookiee Impression

It's something every Star Wars fan has attempted from time to time. We've all done our own Wookiee roar just to see how close we could get to the distinctive sound Chewbacca makes. Most of us are probably better at it than Ron Howard. The director of Solo: A Star Wars Story was recently answering fan questions on Twitter when he was asked to perform his best Wookiee noise. While the director admitted to never trying it before, he gave it his best shot, and the result was...not impressive. Even Chewbacca himself chimed in on it. Check it out.

I'm usually not one to criticise somebody for something like this, but I'm forced to agree with Chewie here, that was pretty bad. It sort of sounds like Ron Howard is choking on something more than he's trying to let out a roar. Sure, Wookiee sounds aren't simply guttural roars, but even when making a soft sound the Wookiee voice still has a depth to it that Howard is utterly unable to capture.

The question was part of several that were asked by fans of Ron Howard on the official Star Wars Twitter account in anticipation of the May 25 release of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Chewbacca was introduced as being there with Howard from the beginning and was part of several answers, which is probably why the question was asked of Howard in the first place.

Luckily, as far as I know, Ron Howard is not providing the voice of any of the Wookiees in Solo so we don't ever need to hear that terrible sound ever again. Trailers for the movie have confirmed the appearance of other Wookiees in addition to Chewbacca, though at this point we don't really know they fit into the overall story.

While there was some question regarding what the reception would be for Solo: A Star Wars Story, following the films behind the scenes issues, the film is doing remarkably well when it comes to pre-sale tickets. It just goes to show that at the end of the day Star Wars is still Star Wars and the average fan either doesn't even know about the film's issues or just doesn't care. Han Solo is a popular character and the movie is going to do well regardless. It's also the only Star Wars movie we're going to get for a year and a half, with Star Wars: Episode IX pushed back from its original May 2019 date back into December.

While Ron Howard may not be the best at Wookiee noises, he's an accomplished director and we know he has much stronger skills in that arena. He'll be playing to his strengths when Solo: A Star Wars Story arrives later this month.

Jamie Dornan Will Play A Journalist In Both Of His Fifty Shades Follow-Ups

Say what you will about the Fifty Shades franchise, but its stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are continuing to rise to stardom and take on new fascinating roles much because of its past success. Johnson is creating buzz surrounding her two upcoming October releases, Bad Times at the El Royale and horror-remake Suspiria. Dornan is also sharing a busy release schedule with three films with his name coming out before the year's end. Two of which has the actor portraying the stories of two very different real-life journalists in A Private War and in the HBO TV movie, My Dinner With Herv. Why did Dornan make this shift from playing a shady, kinky billionaire you may ask? Here's what he said:

It was just total coincidence that I ended up playing two journalists in the same year. I guess you're just drawn by story and by script. They were so vastly different in their capacity as journalists.

In an interview with the Manila Bulletin, the former Christian Grey explained the difference between these two roles. Up first, My Dinner with Herv has Jamie Dornan playing a struggling journalist, Danny Tate, who forms a friendship with Fantasy Island actor Herv Villechaize (Peter Dinklage) shortly before the television star committed suicide in 1993. His other role in A Private War has Dornan portraying British photojournalist Paul Conroy, who photographed some of the most taunting war images in the middle east alongside badass journalist Marie Colvin, played by Rosamund Pike.

For A Private War, Jamie Dornan recounted meeting with Paul Conroy, who showed him some of images he photographed. They were so gruesome that newspapers felt they could not publish them and are permanently imprinted in Dornan's brain. While Dornan maintains that both the roles are polar opposites, he said he thinks someone has to be "a wee bit mad" to be a journalist of any kind. A madness that he also believes actors such as himself and other creatives must possess. Delving into the world of war journalism proved to be more taxing as the movie discusses the damage the line of work has on people. His co-star Rosamund Pike will be portraying journalist Marie Colvin, who wears an eyepatch in the film due to her close encounters with war and died in 2012 while covering the siege of Homs in Syria.

Jamie Dornan is also involved in the Robin Hood reboot starring Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx. Dornan will be playing Will Scarlet in the fun action flick, one of the iconic members of the Hood's Merry Men. The actor certainly has a lot of exciting upcoming roles to follow-up the Fifty Shades franchise. My Dinner with Herv airs on HBO on October 20 and A Private War and Robin Hood hit theaters on November 21.

MoviePass Halted Repeat Viewings The Same Weekend Infinity War Came Out

Back at the tail end of 2016, MoviePass head honcho Mitch Lowe announced that the service would cut prices drastically in the hopes it could increase subscribers as well as the number of attendees at the movies. In 2017, MoviePass launched its $10 passes and various iterations of the pass have been available via various outlets in the months since. The result is that MoviePass has landed millions of subscribers, and with such a heavy volume user base, the subscription movie service has started making changes. One big change actually happened this weekend, as MoviePass made it impossible for its users to go see the same movie twice using its pass. The move coincided with the big release of Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War this weekend.

The change came to section 2.3 of MoviePass' terms of service on Friday, and you can see the new change in ALL CAPS, below.

A valid MoviePass subscription to the Service entitles you to: (1) see one (1) 2D film per calendar day through MoviePass; and (2) a single seat, depending on availability, for a 2D film showing open to the general public. The Service excludes premium showings such as: 3D films, IMAX, 4D, XD and specialty theaters. The Service is available every day of the week, subject to the theater being open, inventory, and usage. THE SERVICE PROHIBITS REPEAT VIEWINGS OF THE SAME MOVIE. Alternative or future MoviePass Service subscription plans may include (1) premium plans that provide access to 3D, IMAX, and specialty formats and (2) capped plans (limited amount of movies per month.)

The part about the service prohibiting "repeat viewings" only came into effect this weekend, but it's one of several changes that MoviePass has made since the company first offered its $10 MoviePass. Although MoviePass has seen a lot of success with its business model, even hitting 2 million subscribers, about 5 months ago the service made changes to its terms of use, at that time noting that Moviepass "reserves the right" to change its policies as well as "ticket availability" to its members. The change to seeing a movie more than once is an example of one of the ways MoviePass has changed its policies, and it may not be the end to those changes. MoviePass had also previously blocked service to some members and to some screenings of popular movies, including Red Sparrow.

MoviePass is not a new business, but it saw an explosion in growth over the past 12 months. Because of this, it's not a huge surprise that the service would see changes as it tested limits and tried to make money. There have been kinks; some customers have had problems getting their MoviePass cards after ordering and have experienced other customer service problems. The service has also tinkered with different price models, something that Netflix also did (and continues to do) after it started becoming more popular.

As for this particular change, making the move right as the summer movie season kicks off is prescient. Not only has Avengers: Infinity War already made more money on opening weekend than any other movie in history -- including Star Wars: The Force Awakens -- there are a slew of other big movies coming up like Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story, plus a ton of other stuff later this summer. If MoviePass needs to make changes to its terms of service, before the summer season is the time to do it.
